When I heard about mobile Amber Alerts, I was impressed! Who knew you could get an Amber Alert text sent directly to you? If you want to help find missing children, this is the easiest way to get involved.
It is free. It is simple. The program is designed to send subscribers – you – a text message whenever current Amber alerts happen in your area.
The cool thing about the cell phone Amber Alert is you get it when it matters most – immediately. You don’t have to be listening to the radio. You don’t have to be watching the news.
And you just might be the ticket home for a missing child.
Here’s how to get them:
You should receive a confirmation text letting you know which zip code you entered and how to stop the Amber Alert texts if you ever needed to cancel them.
Do you live in New Mexico but visit your mom in Colorado? Work in the north part of the state, but live in the south part? Great! Get both zip codes. If you go to their official website, you can have AMBER Alerts from up to 5 different zip codes.
This way you can help find missing kids even when you go out of town. And you can change them at any time. Just go to your wireless carrier’s website (Verizon, T-Mobile, etc) and look to see if they participate. Or simpler yet, you can…
Then when the Amber Alert text comes in, you’ll be ready to help. And when the alert is past, they send you a text letting you know the alert is now cancelled.
I love how simple it is. And it sure feels good to be doing something to help missing kids.
Read our Wireless Amber Alerts page to learn how to get mobile Amber Alerts through facebook or put an Amber Alert widget on your own site!
The Amber Alert text only comes to those who opt-in. But if you don’t know about it, how are you supposed to opt-in? I guess you have to wait until your friends tell you...
…so be a pal. Pass it on!
